I've been in going to classes a few weeks now and I've got to say that I enjoy being back at school. I really like my core class that is the I/O Psych stuff I came here to study. I also have a counseling class that is one of my electives and I've got to tell you I'm glad I didn't go into counseling. The class is about testing (personality test, IQ tests, etc.) in counseling so all we talk about is the client taking a test and then talking to them about how they feel about it. At least the teacher is entertaining so I'm able to stay awake. One of my fears was realized, though. I think I am the "Old Guy" in my Training and Development class. I'm probably 3-4 years older than most of the people in there. Now, that doesn't seem like a significant difference chronologically, but maturity wise I think it makes a difference. Plus, throw in the fact that I've been married for almost 4 years and I've got nothing in common with these kids.
As for West Monroe, I can't say very much about it. Other than good crawfish, I haven't found much to get excited about. I take that back, I was excited when we first came here to see that they still have a Shoney's which means they have an awesome breakfast buffet. So, two places to eat and that's about it. Leighanne is coming here this weekend and we are going to try out Enoch's which is their Irish Pub style bar. Hopefully they will have some good beers on tap.
I also can't find anywhere to ride my bike. I've been on mapmyride.com to find some rides but they are mostly 80 to 100 mile rides. Well, that's great. I wouldn't mind trying some of those but what about a 25-40 miler I can do in the morning before I start studying? Plus, they all start 12-15 miles outside of town which means I have to load the bike up and head out to BFE Louisiana to ride my bike and probably be attacked by a gator or a Bayou Billy (what I used to refer to as Rednecks).
I will leave you with the best thing I have discovered about being back in school and not working. Here it is: When you run out of milk, it's OK to use Bailey's Irish Cream in your coffee in the morning.

Sounds like you have Baileys (booze) in common with the youngsters. Duh, Wes.
