Why do I look so Happy/Strange in this picture? It's because I had people visit me this past weekend! Of course, Leighanne was here. She came down Thursday afternoon so we got to spend all day Friday together. On Saturday, J & B squared came to visit us. J & B squared are Jenny and Buddy (Leighanne's parents) and Jerry and Bonnie (our friends and former neighbors). It was a wild day to say the least. Now, as I've said before, there are not a lot of things to do in Northern Louisiana, or as it is known in Louisiana: The Sportsman's Paradise (aka Redneck Heaven). There are 2 things you want to take advantage of when you are in Louisiana. These are 1) The amazing food and 2) the crazy/amazing liquor laws. So, that's what we did.
We started with crawfish po'boys. Damn they're good! We had them at the Hob Nob which is a local restaruant that feels like a restaurant that you would find in Hot Springs. You know, a really classy place with a dirt parking lot. We also had to have all the different kinds of Abita beers that you can't get in Arkansas. There's actually more Abita beers than Purple Haze and Turbodog!
Then we all piled into the car and headed to Landry's winery. It is the only winery in the area and they make some pretty darn good wines. So, about those crazy/amazing liquor laws. In Louisiana you can drive thru almost any gas station or liquor store and buy daiquiris, mixed drinks, or jello shots! The day got a little funnier after we drove thru one of these fine, fine establishments. You haven't lived until you've heard 4 people in their mid 50's order drinks with names such as Buttery Nipple, Baby Yield, and Sex on the Bayou while giggling like 3rd graders who have just learned how to cuss.
After a mid-afternoon drunk nap it was Crawfish time. Leighanne and I have found this awesome place just around the corner from my apartment that we frequent every Friday night she is in town. It's called Crawfish City and we love it. It's a little dive that is at the end of a strip mall.

We typically get 3 pounds of crawfish each and maybe split a dozen oysters. It's a pretty darn good meal.
