So I officially live in Louisiana now. Leighanne and I drove down here Thursday and her mom followed a few hours behind us. We quickly found out that the direction of the wind greatly effects the smell of this town. It has been about 80 degrees here but with a nice breeze so we opened the windows in the apartment to get some fresh air. We quickly had to close the windows because an awful smell came roaring in. We assume that it is a paper mill somewhere close. Sadly, I will probably have to do an internship at this paper mill, wherever it is.
My apartment is pretty darn nice. Though, I do think that I am the youngest person here by about 20 years. I have three neighbors I share a foyer with and they are really nice ladies. They're grandmas and have had strokes but they are really nice. I'm cool with living in a white hair community. It will probably be quiet. I will probably have to fight for pool time with a water aerobics class but that's cool. Here's a few pics of my place.

The one great thing about Louisiana is the food. There's crawfish everywhere! The first night we got all cleaned up to go to the Hob Nob restaurant, which from it's website looked like a nice establishment. We got there and it's a dirt parking lot filled with pick-ups and four wheelers. The best thing about it was when we asked what beers were on tap and she replied "Bud Light, Miller Lite and Mitchaloob." She didn't know how to say Michelob! Apparently reading is not a strong point in the Louisiana school system because our waitress at McAlister's gave Leighanne her Spud Ole and called it a "Spud-ola". But what these people make up for in reading they make up for in crawfish preparation. The Po' Boys Jenny and I had at the Hob Nob were insane. They give you an entire loaf of french bread filled to the brim with crawfish. I couldn't even eat half of it!

We found another crawfish dive that I can actually walk to from my apartment. It's called Crawfish City. We got 3 pounds of crawfish and finished them in about 10 minutes. They were freakin' awesome. Lucky for wallet, they don't open until 5 and most nights I will be in class by then so I won't be able to spend all my money there. But just so everyone knows, if you come visit us down here we will be eating there.
We have also already been to the local winery. It's called Landry Vineyards and they had some pretty good wines. Most southern wineries seem to make a lot of sweet wines but the guys who owns Landrys doesn't like sweet wines so he doesn't make them. He does, however, make a dry Merlot that is blended with a Cynthiana (one of my favorite grapes/wines). We bought his last bottle of that one and it was awesome. West Monroe and Monroe do not have a brewery or brewpub which is pretty disappointing. I'll just have to keep filling up my Vino's growlers.
Leighanne and her mom have headed back to Benton so I'm sitting here by myself, stealing internet from someone, and watching SNL, Scrubs and That 70's Show on DVD. I'm hoping classes keep me busy because I'll be finished with these shows in about a week.

My solution: buy more TV shows on DVD. Sad, but entirely true. I've watched whole series that I've never seen on TV.
