This was the first organized ride of this length we had ever attempted. Actually it was the first time any of us had tried to ride 50 miles. We all set times for ourselves to beat and I think everyone of us did it faster than we had anticipated. We all had a great time during the ride, met some new folks on the road, and had some good beers afterwards.
After the race everyone came to our house for some more beers and good food. LA and I prepared "The Swamp Special." It is half a bowl of red beans and rice, half a bowl of jambalaya and then throw a fried egg on top of that. We also added some cheese grits to go on top of that. It's probably not too healthy for you but we felt we had earned it.
We all enjoyed the race so much that we have decided to do a few more before it gets too cold. We will most likely be in Jonesboro on Oct. 18th for a 62 mile ride and maybe in Helena for a 100 miler on Nov. 1st. If you will be in either of those towns on those dates, come out and cheer for us and then have some beer with us afterwards.
Sorry for the lack of pics for the ride. My parents were there and we got some great shots of everyone finishing but they were taken with my dad's camera. He sent them to me in a slideshow so I can't really post them here. If you just really really want to see all of us in spandex and lycra, I can send you the pics to you in an email. Just let me know.
PS. I look awesome in tights.

I miss grits! They don't serve them up here. And you know I can't resist pictures of Wes in tights. Email them to me! Way to go on the race. I am inspired.
