liquor time...aka Thanksgivin' time

this is Lurn typing. well, we ate a lot, drank a lot, and saw lots of family. we are SUPER awful at remembering to take our camera with us to capture these magnificent moments. and when we do remember the camera, we forget to take pictures. such is life in the fast lane.

We spent Wednesday night in Benton with my fam because Sarah was in town. always fun to kick it with the sista. Thanksgiving was at Grandma Genny's and Aunt Kim came up from TX for the good eats as well. We had 3, count'em THREE, different types of potatoes (sweet, gourmet, and mashed) and 5 pies. That's almost 1 pie per person considering there were only 7 of us. I made walnut-maple (my new fav), cherry, and sweet potato-buttermilk pies. Grandma made Wes a chocolate pie and a lemon icebox pie. the lemon was amazing! after eating lunch (before pie), mom, Kim and i went on a walk to downtown Benton...what a sight. they do have nice decor around the courthouse for Christmas but other then that, not so much. THEN, we ate pie when we got back. you gotta get some exercise in before the bad stuff hits you. that night we kicked it around the chiminia on mom and dad's patio. that was fun. it felt pretty good outside too.

(yum...chili and football - GO HOGS!!)

Thursday night about 8:30 we headed to Hot Springs to spend the night with Larry Don, Teresa, Jon, Brie, and Cody (Wes's cousin). that was fun. bring on the beer! we went through 12 beers in about an hour (not including LD & T since they don't drink beer). which by the way, our pine valley porter...AWESOME!!! We stayed up until 1am. that's uber late for us uber oldies. (another aside, anna and i have birthdays coming up in the next month so don't forget your homegirls!) the next day I got up at 6:30 and started cooking chili. that's right my friends, i made us a chili bar for thanksmas. we had 3 different kinds of chili: white chicken, regular with ground turkey, and veggie (although made with chicken broth). all were pretty good. the white is good but could cause some excessive gas due to all the beans. we started drinking at 9:00am to get ready for the influx of people. there were 17 of us total (if you count the newest addition to the fam, baby Carter). it's awesome having a baby around (never thought you'd hear me say that, huh?!) because everyone's attention goes to it...not us!!! sweet deal. they're always judging, watching, looking. look at the baby. look at the baby. (what movie is this from? if you guessed Old School, zing-badda-bing my friend!). i have attached some stellar family photos so you can see what Wes's family looks like. We didn't get any of mine. Cory talks about my mom's hot factor too much for those.

(obviously, this is baby Carter)

(Cody, Georgia, Wes, Dexter, Gracie, Carter, Aubrey, Amber, Aaron)

Shortly after the dirty santa ornament exchange and the family picture half hour, we called it a night and drove home. to our home. our own bed. own whiskey. own dog. no baby. it was fabulous to say the least. hope you enjoyed hearing about our turkey day fun times! can't wait to see you all in the upcoming weeks! yeah for Christmas!!!
