Labor Day Weekend

So we wanted to give you guys a reason to miss the Rock...holla! We thought that we would do several things around town that reminded us of all of you and send you some LLLUUUUUVVVVVV from wherever we went...
Friday: Artie had to go to the vet. We did NOT take pics there or really enjoy it. Not someplace you guys would have wanted to go. Moving right along...secondly, we went to Beef O'Bradys. $0.99 draught beer + $0.45 chicken wings = best happy hour ever!! SADLY, we were not prepared and did not bring the camera to this venue.
Saturday: We woke up at 8 and started planning out our day. We went to see the BEST movie on the planet...TROPIC THUNDER...and totally got drunk in the theatre at 10:55am. Note the pic below...

After this amazing movie, we decided to go for some down home BBQ. We had watched "Down Home with the Neelys" (on Food TV) earlier that morning and found that BBQ would probably soothe a rumblin' tummy more than anything else. So we moseyed on down to Whole Hog Cafe where we split the pulled pork plate with baked beans, potato salad and a roll. We wish you guys could have been there! Definitely thought about you!

After filling our bellies with BBQ we felt a bit thirsty. Where's the best place to get beer in LR? Hmmmmmm......Maybe our favorite hometown local brewery, Diamond Bear! Hells Yeah! We went for the 2 o'clock tour (and by tour we mean have free samples and hang around and talk to other people). We had our samples and then a few pints afterwards. They have cut it down to three samples instead of four because of the rising costs of supplies. Hops used to cost about $3 a pound and it has risen to around $15 a pound. Bit of an increase! The prices for cases, six packs, and kegs have remained the same, though. Gotta love that. While at DB, we got a call from LA's parents. Her mom was walking and going to meet her dad at Creegans Irish Pub. We were to meet them at Creegan's. Do you think they had to ask twice for us to meet them at the Irish Pub? Answer: NO! We met them in downtown NLR and had another pint and some fish and chips before heading home.

Sunday Sunday Sunday!!!

Sunday was jammed packed. We started at 8am with a bike ride. LA kicked some ass. She made it up a few hills she didn't think she could make it up. We rode from our house to the Clinton Presidential Library and Heifer Project and back. She made it up some good hills on Markham and she made it up Kavanaugh Hill. She also did it with ease!

After a Bloody Mary, we got the hankerin' for some Huevos Rancheros and decided to walk up to Satellite Cafe. It was a very nice walk and we think that this is something that we are going to try to do every Sunday.

The rest of Sunday was pretty laid back. After a dessert of ice cream with chocolate, caramel and strawberry sauces, we took a good nap. After that we ordered Chinese for dinner and watched a few movies.

Monday was a heck of a day. We started the day with a climb to the top of Pinnacle Mountain on the East Summit Trail. Coming off the hikes we did in the Smoky Mountains, we thought these would be pretty darn easy. It turns out that climbing rocks when your legs are as short as ours isn't as easy as we had imagined. The East trail was pretty steep! We did make it to the top, though, and it was peaceful for about 45 seconds before a family with about 8 kids showed up. I was very proud of LA for not yelling and cursing at the kids. She did very well around them. She didn't even push one off the mountain! The views were amazing and we had a great time.

We went down the West Summit trail because it was a little easier. We still ran into some really annoying people. We still made it down without hurting anyone. The only problem was we were on the other side of the mountain from our car so we had to take the Base Trail around the mountain to make it back. It was pretty fun. We think we will go back but on a less douche-bag packed day.

We had planned on eating our picnic lunch at the Mountain, but if you couldn't tell, we were sick of the people/kids out there. It turns out that almost no one was at Murry Park on the river. We took our picnic there and ate in peace. Ahhhhh....the silence of no children.

After lunch, it was a short nap for me before we washed LA's car. It was a really nice day outside and her car was pretty darn dirty. Then it was a marathon of Tyler Perry's House of Payne before a pseudo-cookout. I say "pseudo" because I didn't really get to do all of it on the grill because halfway through cooking the potatoes I ran out of propane. Anywho, it was a good dinner and now we are waiting for The Closer and the premier of Raising The Bar before we pass out in bed.

We hope you guys had as good a weekend as us.

Happy Labor Day!

Ok...you did make me miss LR, but you made me miss you guys even more. What a great weekend. Do you think you could have packed a little more into your days?
