2a) Christmas Part 1 was pretty awesome! Unlike Thanksgiving where I only got the day of Thanksgiving off, for Christmas I got a whole 48 hour period. That had not happened since early November! We celebrated Christmas with the Hillman family Christmas Eve night and Christmas Day.

Christmas at the Hillman household generally starts with mimosaswhen we all come upstairs to open presents (7:00 in the AM).
Better than Wheaties.
Mimosas were followed by the opening of presents. Wes and I got some more liquor (which we always love) to add to our bar, lots of puzzle books, movies, clothes (thanks to Sarah!) and countless other items I am forgetting at the moment. Christmas day lunch was tasty as well. That meal consisted of brisket, mashed potatoes, asparagus casserole, salad, rolls, and blueberry icebox pie (which i made from scratch!). Thanks for the recipe Grandma!
2b) Christmas Part 2 with the Alford clan in Hot Springs was just as fun, except that I had to go to work for about 6 hours on Saturday for Holiday Lights. We all met up at Larry and Teresa's on Saturday. We had a late lunch, visited and opened presents before I had to head to work at 3:30 that afternoon. Work went by pretty fast since we were busy and I was back having fun with everyone lickity split! We got some great stuff for Christmas from Wes's parents including gift certificates to some of our favorite eateries in Little Rock (i.e. Vinos, Gina's, The Flying Saucer, and Chili's) so we can actually afford to go on a date every now and then, more puzzle books (we really like sudoku and crosswords if you can't tell), and very importantly we got some extra money to help with savings and to help with any moving expenses we might incur over the next few months/year. With only one of us working adn the other in school, it has been extremely hard to save money from my meager salary and Wes's loan money. This was one fo the best presents we could ask for! Plus this was the frist time we had seen Brie since she actually looked preggo! She now has a baby bump that can be seen and everything is going really nicely and well for both of them :) Everyone is healthy!

3) MY LAST DAY OF HOLIDAY LIGHTS WAS TUESDAY, DEC. 29!!!!!!!! So Wes and I headed for NW Arkansas to stay in Sarah's apt while she and Drew leave town for Atlanta. This is the first time we actually get to see each other for more than 10-12 hours since November (in addition to my 48 hrs over Christmas)!! We wanted to spend some time alone and I really wanted to sleep and DO NOTHING. absolutely nothing. So we did. We got to Fayetteville on Wednesday afternoon, bought some groceries and beer, got into our comfy pants, made dinner, and I was out by 10. sad I know.
Thursday: New's Year's Eve I awoke refreshed and feeling great! Wes and I took our time getting up and around. We watched some fo our favorite movies/tv series including I Love You, Man; The Hangover; Seinfeld; and Two and a Half Men. We got ready and left the apt around 4:00 with no plans and to sample as many of our favorite dives/restaurants/bars in Fayettevile. We frist went to the Skybar for their sushi happy hour and sake. We like this location because it overlooks parts of Fayetteville and at night, when it's all lit up, what a beautifual scene it is! From there we went to Asian Fusion for dinner. We both highly recommend Asian Fusion if you're ever in teh area. They offer Malaysian, Indian adn Chinese food items. We had a Malaysian dish called Chicken Rendeng, just the right amount of spicy with lots of flavor! From there we went to Jose's on Dickson. This is where we sort of let go of our pacing rules and just go for broke. i started with a margarita on the rocks and followed with 2 mexican coffees (tequila, kahlua, coffee with whipped cream). Wes started with a Sam Adams winter seasonal and followed with a hot toddy and mexican coffee.
We don't stop after Jose's (although we should). we head to Theo's. There the mix of drinks gets even better for the both of us. I have a peach bellini and 2 specialty martinis that are made with gin, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup, and topped with champagne. It was the best martini I've ever had...really. Wes proceeded to have a scotch and 2 of the same martinis. Just take a look.

Razorback game #2 was watched at Foghorn's (our fav chicken wing establishment in F-ville) that afternoon. We did a wonderful job of NOT drinking our faces off and pacing oursleves! Although, I told Wes from the beginning that if we won, I was buying us jello shots at the end. Who would have thunk it would come down to the KICKERS and TEJADA actually making one in a pinch???!! It was super exciting to experience it at Foghorn's with lots of Hoggie fans :)

What a wonderful holiday. I especially liked the just not doing stuff part. We are trying to do more of that. That sounds funny...doing more of doing less. So important to stop and rest every now and then.
